This year's beers arrive 4 November

Vinmonopolet releases its Christmas beers on 4 November. We'll publish a ready-made list of this year's juleøl, with pictures, that you can start a tasting from in one tap. Until then: buy what you like and add it yourself.

How to run a Christmas beer tasting

  1. Six to eight beers is plenty More than eight and everything tastes the same. Pour 5 to 10 cl each, so one bottle serves six people.
  2. Take them out of the fridge early Juleøl is best at 8 to 10 °C. Straight from the fridge you lose the malt and spice.
  3. Make it a blind test Wrap the bottles in foil or pour in the kitchen. Number the glasses. The app hides the names until voting is done.
  4. Light before dark, weak before strong Start with the lighter grocery beers and finish with the big ones, so God Jul doesn't wreck your palate for Hansa.
  5. Vote on the phone, podium on the TV Everyone rates 1 to 6 on their own phone after each beer. The TV shows the podium live. No napkin math.
  6. Water and plain snacks Crackers, bread and water between beers. Save the dinner for afterwards.
